Torre castlan: Thank you very much, David. It should be fun. I can’t wait dv: no, I haven’t thought about that topic in depth. We’re working on this. We should actually talk loudly, but Twitter is great. TC: well done. DV: Yes, the deer on the headlights, I see. Thank you. Thank you. Well, for those who listened to Tory’s content today, she used the off the shelf tools of the WordPress agency to provide customers with success. In particular, it has achieved success in faster deployment, more consistent deployment, and lower costs for itself and customers. I am still conveying its value. Therefore, what we really focus on is a third-party or off the shelf product advanced plug-in type strategy. Then again, Tory has had a lot of success and will explain how she did it. Start with the same question for all of Tory’s guests. Please tell me the story of the birth of WordPress briefly. The
TC: Yes, I encountered difficulties at the press conference, but I will try my best. So I studied at saden messodiste University in Dallas and got a degree in marketing and several associate majors from the Graduate School of management. I love language. I received my education in German, Beijingese, Arabic and Spanish. I think I have another language. I gave up when I was considering it. Although I got a marketing degree, there was no career that really excited me. I sold 75% of my stuff, but I moved to the coast of Mexico with my hat and suitcase. Everyone’s WordPress story is not like this. I will get used to it gradually. So I’m just a very type of person. Maybe I’m surprised to those who decide to start a brokerage company, but I live because of boredom. As the name suggests, I live in a paradise 50 steps away from the sea. Because of boredom, I thought of it, you know, I wanted to write a blog. I decided to create a really passionate project, such as creating my blog project. Back in school, I seem to have learned HTML, CSS, e-mail basics, HTML, etc. in the past 90 years. Everyone is Linda. Com God rest your soul. It took us 30 days to build the first WordPress website. And that’s terrible. But that’s my learning curve. Then I remember that the next time I wanted to build a website, it took me about 4 hours. It looked a million times better. I thought I could ask for money. Actually, before returning to the United States. So I moved to Mexico about six months later and returned to the United States with a job. Then soon, I realized I wouldn’t fit. To work
Yes, it’s a mix. So I want to ask a simple question before my break. But when you start hacking code, you mention that you like machine tool plug-ins and themes. For example, do you try to customize plug-ins or themes, or use third-party advanced plug-ins and themes from the start? TC: Yes, considering my background, not in development. I didn’t try to customize themes and plug-ins from the beginning. When I brought back-end developers and other experts to the signing party, I made some attempts. But it was not our strategy at first. From. We started with ready-made goods. Then we explored this. Well, if we had to ask this question, then we went back to that. The
Dv: no, No. Many people think that the development from simple tools to fully customized ones should not be so interesting to listen to the stories of people with travel and agency parts. But it may hurt their own profits, and maybe their customers will experience the same way you found when you went through this. TC: Yes, this is our experience. Dv: yes, that’s right. Therefore, I would like to conduct a more in-depth study to find out what these advantages and disadvantages are. But we’ll take a break and be right back. The
Dv: welcome to WMR’s press this WordPress community podcast. This is David vogelpohl, the host computer. I’m interviewing Torre castlano. Before the break, we were talking about a trap that can make a lot of money using custom plug-ins and themes. You are explaining how to use advanced plug-ins. We started with Darren code. Required for website construction. We also discussed experimenting with custom plug-ins and themes, which may not have benefited, and we did discuss the speed required to provide business support to customers. But I’m just curious. What do you think are the basic advantages or disadvantages of customized and finished plug-ins and themes, and what are you doing when choosing which side? The
TC: Yes, that’s a good question. I don’t know if they will say anything really revolutionary, but what I notice is that when we are on the way to saying \
No. If you want to do this, you will fail. We have professional back-end developers who have worked together for a period of time. They do not communicate with traps, but only solve common problems, so we have a good relationship. Provide q&a that any type of custom project can expect. But we went back and evaluated it. We decided that from an internal point of view, it is justified that the result of the project will double the cost, so it does not mean that the client gets it. For example, let’s continue this week. Next time we will do the same thing. We may have to pay two extra fees. There may be some benefits. Increase the right by at least 50%. So we made our own decision, but thought it was appropriate or unethical. I don’t like going into ethics about pricing here, but we don’t feel like we’re reaching an agreement based on someone’s product. Any team or any team assigns its results as a duration. And what is the cost of making it work for us? Therefore, we took a step back in such projects, but in all the projects we would not go, we consciously made choices. I’m talking about the easy way. Yes, our back-end developers can code it in 30 minutes, which will become custom plug-ins. But that’s easy. We don’t consciously choose it every day. As a team, we can spend 3 hours on discovery. We spend time discovering products in each project. Because even if it is not WordPress, it will not open the worm jar. Too many, that is to achieve business goals. It is the most appropriate use of funds. Even if it deviates from the scope of our project, it will bring the most return on investment. That’s not the most common thing, but it’s something we open up to. In fact, what we need to do is that the technology that customers ultimately obtain and the results they provide to customers, as well as all the technology options we consult, the return on investment they receive is enough for us to benefit from them and encourage long-term partnership. Therefore, from a financial perspective, it is the best for them What is it? It is likely to become a long-term partner. So I like to think about longevity. Although I think these advanced themes and plug-ins will reduce the problems in the update process and will deal with them in the future, the platform we build, especially the WordPress website, can make it easier to last longer. I heard the marketing director is going. God, this agency has just finished the website redesign project. Six months more than we quoted. It’s like my favorite tooth extraction. I stayed up late and sent an email asking about the time to see the xy&z results for the 15th time, so I cried. I made an appointment three months ago, not me. It should be done here. They will redesign or rebuild with us. In this case, one day after 10 days. Because when the new website was finally launched, it died. It was static and totally expensive, but I couldn’t edit anything. They realized their hands were tied and they changed. The
Male DV: just as you mentioned the method of customized plug-ins to implement projects with twice the total revenue, you will know why you do not increase the quotation to cover these projects, and why you expand the scope or reduce the profit. Do you think this is inevitable, or do your customers who use third-party advanced plug-ins see more positive results and are therefore more stressed? TC: I want to say that the two are mixed. But there’s this
. There is a very new publication on Abstract communication of design state in 2021. Then it basically talks about how to make the design no longer beautiful. And it’s not just about doing what they’re asked to do. They should be business results with a positive return on investment. Moreover, as designers, if we can’t say whether we have achieved it without considering it, you know, we may be in trouble, and we may need to leave those decisions to the next person. We can really maintain our responsibility to them. For example, instead of reducing the cost of the project to two axes, we will take a project as an example, which contains a custom plug-in application that basically has a break even point from the beginning. The customer will say. I see. Yes, we have a budget, so we will continue. When we performed and analyzed the post analysis, we discussed not only our interests, but also its impact on the client. If we are x, our quotation, and that is the income into that project. Yes, we should make a profit. I don’t think that in order to keep the breakeven point all the time, there will be krives in the same range. That won’t happen. But we don’t feel like such a project. In particular, I don’t think the investment return on the client is positive. If we double the cost and then go back to the analysis, do we act efficiently? Whether we have turned our wheels and recorded the time we spent educating ourselves about a particular integration, we should not record it. The answer is \
