Courtney Robertson: David. I’d better be with you today. Dv: great. I’m glad you’re here. I know we both know what Wordcamp Philly first read to each guest there. It’s really interesting to hear what you’re doing. Various contact information training for WordPress learning. However, what Courtney really wants to tell us today is the organization’s Sheung Shui work, called code. This will be discussed later. Learn WordPress He is a core member of the volunteer team for the expansion and optimization of org. She is an excellent educator and educator. But she wants to talk to us today. I want to talk about how to train others in the business and how to talk about word press more broadly. So Courtney, my first question to all the guests. You can remember it. WordPress a few years ago. When creating a configuration file, please briefly tell the story of the origin of WordPress. The
Cr: of course. So I was a high school management teacher, focusing on programming education, teaching HTML and CSS. And content management platforms like Paula, Joomla, and Moodle are becoming more available. Moodle is a worse platform for learning management, and has rich experience around WordPress 23. Then I decided to try it. And it was ed to the personal blog at that time. I have several mediums setting up revolutionary themes. The original version before geneis is the same. We learned how to register before the sidebar and parts are available. By 2009, we still did not have the foundation of WordPress foundation, but the first camp to participate in the first camp was Wordcamp Mid Atlantic. And in that keynote speech. The start-up knee lunged at akimsmit to launch the competitor. So, that was my early period about WordPress, and I had a long relationship. The
DV: what year is 2.3, or when did it start? When do you think it was? Cr: I think so. Although it can be found in the printed records, I think so. Yes. Yes, about 2008. Dv:
F is also shared. Watch TV videos or report TV videos with them. And I said, these are obviously selective extensions, beyond our classroom, not necessary. You do it first. However, if you want to learn more about this topic, there are some resources available. Then I obviously put a label on it and said it was my choice. Although I don’t want to overwhelm you, I want to open everything I can do. Dv: in fact, this morning, the community is still half of the product, which is actually an important part of the word printing machine. The relationships, learning, and all the benefits people get from participating in the community are a big part of WordPress. There are a few more questions. I’d like to explain this point in more detail, but I’ll take a break and come back soon. Dv: hello. Welcome to w EMR’s WordPress community podcast again. Host David Vogel Paul. I’m interviewing Courtney Robertson. We are discussing how to teach WordPress to others to expand our business and contribute again. Courtney talked about the differences before his break, and now he thinks about the content from the perspective of face-to-face or consumption. Most listeners may think about this in the context of adult learners. Therefore, your suggestion will be regarded as a kind of self consumption content and allow you to try it yourself. Then, face to face, emphasize the core points again, answer questions and guess repeatedly, which is the follow-up measures of the course. So, the next question for you is, what kind of mistakes do people make at the beginning? In WordPress, educate people like professional educators. What did they do wrong? Cr: as a matter of fact, I would like to point out three points first. In order to know what it is like to become a beginner, what you think is simple or easy, we actually need to get close to, and learn everything with the heart of a beginner. The WordPress installation method, even the famous 5-minute installation, may be quite difficult. Moreover, if you are not prepared, it is difficult for people to remember all the places where you need to log in and log in. You may need to log in at home, or you may need to log in after installing WordPress. Log in to my course website. People have a lot of things that can feel overwhelming. And may be installed locally. Overwhelming. So we should remember to be kind and never want to advocate simple or easy things. Because it’s for him personally. Probably not at that time. At this point, you may have installed word press more than 1000 times. It has been easy for me throughout my career. This may not be easy for individuals building portfolio websites. It also represents dependencies, so you must use blocks before you start creating them. That’s what I like very much, because I’m sure I’ll be among the students this week. Dependencies can indicate whether you want me to teach a child topic. Are they familiar with HTML and CSS internally? They don’t need to know all the possible things. But I think there are different degrees of subordination. When we integrate multiple languages and use them to build content management systems, consider interpreting those languages and learning the prerequisites before doing so. And then again, community. The third option is that people in the WordPress community are eager to provide support resource training when conducting WordPress training for people. Sometimes technical support depends on where it goes and what is happening, but we
There are many people who make up it. The text printer will not exist. If there is no community behind, there are real people there. They are eager to invite others to join the community. Therefore, the method of connecting people to the community is as important as the materials I teach. If my students finish time with me. You should know how to switch to support documents, submit support credentials, and obtain additional training and resources. The official or informal outposts of the WordPress community and I think this is a heavy and heavy part of an area that people often overlook. Dv: great, I can’t agree any more. I like the way you actively answer questions. If you need to call a counter for an error or declare a counter positive message in an error, call. When you see what people are going to teach, your eyes sound as if they are shaking. It doesn’t seem kind. That’s right. Because you are an expert in that matter, I want to say that it is easy. And if you come in with this mentality, I don’t think you have set your students as successful, because you can’t expect students to operate at a level that doesn’t recognize that kind of dependence and preconditions. It seems easy to catch when you teach people something, but you can imagine that many people have directly ignored it. The way to make blocks is that wild people do nothing to blocks, or at least do not get blocks. In addition, I also like to talk about how to graduate in a more technical part in WordPress, no matter how you start such a user journey or how to write it. They don’t recognize the community and regard themselves as separate from the community. They don’t invite themselves like everyone on their first day. Everyone will ask them questions once. So I want to say that although I wish I had more time, I still have 70 questions, but I thank you very much for working with us today, just as admitting that it sounds like a very positive method to approach education with stale regret. Cr: it’s a pleasure to be with you. DV: what Courtney is doing and various tasks to support WordPress. If you want to learn more, please learn. WordPress Org.
