#Wcus2016 – after our first Wordcamp us… Break the ice, serve and contribute in Philly

This year Wordcamp us2016 is a difficult journey for us. On the one hand, we went to the United States and participated in this huge event. We were very motivated. But on the other hand, \
(however, after the wcus season ends, it is time to consider the next wceu. Please check the summary post of the previous wceu 2016 activities held in Vienna.) As mentioned before, we arrived in Philadelphia in a slightly tired state in about 24 hours by various means of transportation. From then on, the mind skill began, and we even began to question the whole trip. But it felt so good that it disappeared the next morning. We spent the whole day walking and exploring in the beautiful streets of Philadelphia. Be careful not to miss the volunteer briefing at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The
Almost all themeisle teams have decided to volunteer this year, so we are sure that we can participate in the meeting in a group of 9 people. That meeting was really wonderful. We performed an excellent guided tour around the Pennsylvania Convention Center, received volunteer badges and T-shirts, and began to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the conference that began the next day. The biggest advantage of volunteering is that you feel like a receptionist, not a guest. In the end, you will help with your work in the next few days. In addition, you don’t have to wait for a long line to register after the meeting starts. \
In a word, immediately after the introduction Pre party or at least that’s what I call it. The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (opposite to the Convention Center) held a welcome meeting with volunteers, supporters and speakers. A comfortable atmosphere where you can drink and chat with cool people. Here is a part of our team. It should be the best opportunity to approach the speakers and supporters and say a few words with them in a comfortable atmosphere. If you don’t want to get along with people, the museum has enough space to rest. The
But this is just a warm-up. You must admit that the conference was overwhelmed when it first entered the conference center on Friday. There are people everywhere! Everyone is talking about what happened to the supporters and so on. But I walked around the event site once or twice, got familiar with the backup tables, booths, people’s faces, coffee counters, and soon got a firm foothold. (most importantly). Then in the publishing room, we have time to see what happened. It’s hard to decide what to watch because the three tracks are going on at the same time, but it’s a standard conference challenge. The

-Wordcamp us (@wordcampus) December 2nd, 2016, about volunteer service. As I mentioned, almost all teams have volunteered as they did in Wordcamp EU 2016 this year. However, unlike Vienna, where voluntary service rotation lasts longer and is divided on a daily basis, in the United States, the rotation time is actually very short, so meetings can be enjoyed more. For example, I need 1 hour and 30 minutes in total, which is the second day of the activity. What have we done as volunteers? For example, I sold WordPress in the swag store (new to me), Sabina and rodica provided badges on the registration desk, and madalin and Marius C distributed wapuus and T-shirts to the participants. Andrei and cristi are the halls. Base runner (on-site confirmation that everything is OK), Marius g and uriahs are room guards \/ base runners. The
It is a great feeling to know that you are helpful to someone and that you actually have a mission! Sabina and Andrei also did some extra work by interviewing WordPress via video. They said it was fun to do, but it did have the same amount of pressure. That interview will be broadcast live on the blog. Don’t miss it# Wcus @s2abina @selu\u 01 @rodica\u elena91 @reibaicus pic Twitter Com\/cnt0bqgrge themeisle (@themeisle) december3,2016

There are a lot of interesting things there, but we have discussed them in more depth in the latest news of codeinwp last month. High envato’s has a band playing Pink Floyd songs! Do you still hope? But do serious business. Formal after-sales party. This is quite interesting. I mean, it’s not every day to see huge stripped animals or dinosaurs at WordPress parties. In addition, ice cream, KTV (some people are crazy on the stage, praise!) The photo booth and the overall atmosphere were very good. The only disadvantage is that the duration is only 3 hours, which is very short# Although wcus disappeared, the after party was an impressive night. There are always good activities and many things are happening# Wcus pic Twitter Com\/tb2j3zwy- Evan Herman (@evanmherman) concluded on December 4, 2016 that in general, the whole event was a great experience for us. Meet with communities in the United States, explore Philadelphia and New York City, work together as volunteers and participate in talks. Everything! In the airport, on the plane, in the rain, on the way to Philadelphia, it is worth spending 24 hours on various buses. To meet the EU in Paris for Wordcamp? (in fact, we have registered as volunteers in wceu 2017. It’s nice to meet you there. I’m so excited!) How are you? What lessons have you learned from Wordcamp us this year?
