If you want to know what this means, here are a few threads. Webp was launched in 2010, more than 10 years ago. Nevertheless, it is still not fully compatible with browsers and operating systems. The only partial compatibility includes two aspects. Site owners still need to deal with two different formats. \
Male webp is still a good way to optimize images, so you can’t use imageify to convert images to avif. But now, you can convert images to webp at any time and improve image performance. More than 90% of users around the world can see images converted to webp format, so this is a good option to make photos brighter and optimize site performance. When running the pagespeed insights audit, you may have learned about the performance recommendations for providing next-generation format images. Well, webp is the next generation format recommended by Google and avif. This is all you need to speed up image loading.
Male pagespeed insights recommendations – images in a new generation format were provided. We ran the test and produced three pages. Each page contains only images in a specific format, such as PNG, JPG, or webp. When performing a pagespeed insights audit on a page containing PNG images, a danger signal of a new generation of format recommendations was received. You can see the estimated savings of 1076.7kb. The same is true when the JPG image test page is audited with the PSI of the male PNG image. The performance is slightly improved and the orange flag is obtained. There is still room for improvement. Potential savings of 16.8kb.
It was a surprise that the recommendation passed the audit when imagify converted the image to webp and created a dedicated page using psi audit of male jpg images
