Mr.shane bishop and Shane of eww image optimization plugin will participate in the dialogue. Welcome to the report. The
Shane Bishop: Thank you. David, nice to be here. I’m looking forward to it. Dv: yes, of course. I know we have a lot of interesting things to talk about. So, in order to point out some direction to you, what we really need to deal with today is not the method of supporting your team and sustaining results. This is a one-time project, but it requires long-term focus. In fact, consider why the team is mired in the quagmire rather than achieving results and continuous practice everywhere the brand, agency, or team provides services. So this is very close to my heart, very precious, Shane. It’s been fun working together over the past few weeks. There are very special publications. In fact, around the image optimization plug-ins of new customers of WP engine, I was surprised to find that ewww image optimization is actually in the list not allowed by WP engine. The plug-in itself is an excellent plug-in. Only one platform compatibility issue has been changed. We are working with us to resolve it. Then leave the list of disallowed plug-ins. The
Sb:wp engine has launched a dedicated cloud version, and several other web hosts have been in use for 6 years. But ultimately rationalizing things so that people can start and run eww Image optimizer more easily is a very interesting thing. Dv: I see. I see. As you said, there is a cloud version, so customers can only continue to use the service through other versions. customer We have many fans of customers and staff. One of us, an engineer gentleman named Nate gay, is actually not the one who opened the ticket to help solve this problem. And one of my favorite things is working and updating with people. Wordfence was made a few months ago, so it’s fun In summary, today we are talking about performance. Listen to your thoughts on all of these Shanes, how the team keeps doing this exercise over time, just do it. But I want to know the origin of the character imprinter. Can you quickly tell me when you first used the character imprinter? The
Sb: yes, it’s been a long time. I was thinking about it this morning. I think it was sometime in 2005. This is one of my friends. We are talking about websites. And I started working on HTML almost immediately. He said he would confirm the new thing of WordPress. So I was on the Dreamhost server
Installed it on and began to disrupt it. In fact, it took me 6 or 7 years to start using it for career wise things. But that’s just my little personal blog. I’m interested in publishing photos and putting things on the Internet. The
Dv: it’s good to know how many years it is. Sb: in 2005, I seemed to be about 16 at the beginning. I mean, it’s very different from what we have now. Wow. It is amazing to think about the development made in the past 15 years. Dv: yes, if the plug-in and theme appeared 5 times, it was very early. OK, so I did some previews of it. What is the value that others provide to site owners? Sb: of course. And that continues from the origin of WordPress. So I want to start running websites for people in 2011. Also, one of the things I encountered on the website where I worked for my wife’s parents was image optimization. Fantastic plants, flowers and I think we should take a good picture here. In my work in the community college, I made another website in my workplace. I found that we wanted to create it quickly and keep the image optimized. So I want to know what the image optimization plug-in in WordPress is. There are not many short answers. Therefore, we used one of the existing plug-ins, eww Image optimizer. The goal is not to optimize these images by default before uploading. And to do this, you have to worry about installing software on my computer and allowing WordPress to execute automatically. So, I rewritten the existing plug-ins there, sorted out the images, let us use JPEG, and provided us with the target. Some command line optimizers were launched in 2012, and 500 people ed them in the first week. So I continued to work in my spare time and a few years later. Web hosts such as WP engines are inconvenient, so exec is often allowed. Not to mention the performance impact of image compression, image compression may occupy a lot of memory and CPU. So many web hosts do not want a local image CD-ROM drive. So in 2013, we launched the compression API. By default, this API unloads compression until the cloud version works. This API works from the first day you use it to compress images. The
Dv: as the name suggests, the next problem is unloading image compression. I feel very dreamy. Then we think about the theme of the program. This episode is a way to avoid the speed trap and make it an ongoing part of the process. Obviously, when building a site, in order to achieve performance, it is one of the main bullets of the whole strategy to avoid imposing such taxes on the web server by unloading while using the solution of automatically optimizing the image. Just like how to get my website faster over time. So I am very happy to talk about this issue with you. The
Sb: that’s right. So, please leave this here. Many people don’t realize how much the web server can afford or use. When I started the plug-in, I was using BlueHost. You know, that’s an average. I mean, they’re probably a little above average. But we’ll blame them too much. But they only know that you have hundreds, maybe 200 different websites
I’m helping users. Balance is to remember why you did it. Google doesn’t make the speed test satisfactory because it doesn’t care about your site. For users, visitors, your target customers and the people you want to help. That’s why you do everything. For other reasons. Middle finger. DV: very good. That’s why I went back to the film script view and said I wanted to know what people were going through. Whether it’s milliseconds or seconds, whatever it is, it will make what happens on the page a reality. I like the other examples I provide. You can create a web page with a single period without a CDN for people around you. There is no compression, no optimization, but there is no time to load by default, so you can get perfect scores in these projects. But it will be the fastest website in the world. Right. Sb: that’s right. Well, I came across a website not long ago. I’m reading the letter of recommendation, but I still don’t think it’s like me. It’s too outrageous. Then you go to the best man. Or, he is the best result on Google. Then you can know why his website is fast and why he doesn’t care. I know he made this crazy and strange recommendation because his website is ugly. It’s black and white. I don’t mean you can’t have black and white websites, but that’s all. It’s just text. Any CSS is interesting. Dv: I know it’s fun. I often think that this is almost similar to the balance between pain and happiness. I want to convey joy faster, but I know that adding to the website will tax, but when speed makes the right decision and experience the right decision, this is a language concept. And I think it’s always complicated or complicated to try to find a balance between the two, but it seems to keep us all hiring. What do you think? Sb: Yes. Yes, you can always keep the balance and improve performance without spending a lot of time. Because most of us don’t build websites for it. Performance specialist. Therefore, we must reconfirm how we help our customers and return to our core mission. Dv: because we still have more time and more things to talk about, this is a good place to end our interview with Shan. I want to say thank you for coming today. Yes, of course. For more information about Shane, visit ewww Image optimizer. The spelling is ewww. 3 watts. But thanks to WMR for covering the WordPress community podcast.
